Mark has a history of successfully transforming accounting work processes and organizations. He leverages extensive global leadership experience to improve quality, increase efficiency, and ultimately reduce costs in a tangible way. Mark is a recognized expert in streamlining global statutory reporting and in location optimization for accounting functions.
Most recently, Mark led the transformation of a Fortune 100 manufacturing company’s statutory reporting spanning 50 countries into a world-class process through simplification, standardization, automation, and centralized delivery. These changes substantially reduced late statutory filings, shortened cycle times, improved quality, and lowered effort and cost.
Mark has also spearheaded several location optimization initiatives for large multinational companies including the formation and leadership of a satellite corporate audit office in Shanghai, China; a regional accounting center in Singapore with over 125 employees; and a global multifunction professional accounting operation in Mumbai, India with over 100 employees. These changes fully leveraged local talent and established complete accountability in the new location resulting in greater employee engagement, improved quality, higher productivity, and substantial savings. In addition to these changes Mark has carefully evaluated several other potential location optimization changes.
Mark has operational experience in a broad array of accounting and finance functions, including financial planning and analysis, cost accounting, controllership, and audit. He brings a unique global perspective, having spent a third of his career in leadership positions based in Asia, including China and India. He holds a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA) and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University (NYU Stern).
Through this experience, Mark recognized that global statutory reporting - including location optimization - remains one of the most underleveraged opportunities in finance for operational improvement. He founded Atlas Statutory Advisory to help companies capture that opportunity.
Based in the Philadelphia area, Mark works with multinational clients across the globe.
